What's the hubbub about VELLA?
On the US 'Zon website (and available on the KINDLE app), Vella is a serialized platform for authors to share stories one episode at a time with readers. The first three episodes of each story are FREE. Episodes four and on are available by purchasing with tokens. First, you purchase tokens in bundles through Amazon. Then, spend tokens on episodes. Each episode token count depends on how long the episode is. They run 600 to 3,000 words, which is about 1 1/2 pages to 7 1/2 pages.
If you click follow on a story, Kindle will alert you when new episodes are out (if you have your notifications turned on). Once a week, you can select a FAVE, or a favored story. The stories with the largest number of FAVEs receive a crown and are ranked, increasing exposure to other readers.
